I am using plentyoffish.com which is completely free – they promise that they will never ask for any money, ever. Other dating sites advertise that you can sign up for free, so you go to all the trouble of creating your profile, but then you find that until you send them money you can’t contact anyone.
PlentyofFish has the facility to search for people with similar interests by the use of keywords. You type in your interests yourself, so you are not limited to picking from a list like on other dating sites I looked at.
PlentyofFish have forums where you can get lots of advice about writing your profile, and they also organise free singles events. I find it a very friendly and helpful site, and have had no spam or any other problems when using it.http://www.plentyoffish.com/
.
Edit (Thursday). Have now done some research which indicates that these sites are also 100% free:-
OKCupid
Connectingsingles
Mingles
4PPL : For People
.
I used to be on OKCupid, but had to lock up my PC tighter than a drum with programs such as AdAware and a hosts file hack in order to keep their data-mining ads from collecting info from my browsing habits. I consider myself to be a fairly advanced PC user; I was able to clear off the garbage fairly easily and prevent it from coming back, but someone with less knowledge would end up with their privacy invaded.
“Free” still isn’t free.
I actually met the love of my life on OkCupid!
I was searching through the personal ads and everytime I changed a setting (whether it was smaller age group, or no smokers) his kept popping up as the one I was most compatible with.
At OkCupid, they have over 3000 questions you can answer, and select how you want your ideal mate to answer, and then they match you up with people according to who is the most compatible, and better yet, its completely free
I liked your article. I’m not dating now – Met my guy at my high school reunion! – but I used plentyoffish and matchdoctor. I did learn tho that not everything free to one sex is free to the other. Not particularly on these sites, but on some others.
http://www.bidbuydate.com/dating_3670_Lo… is free dating site !!!!
