I am an attractive 47 year old woman who would like to use an online dating service. The problem is that I can’t seem to take a picture that comes close to matching my looks in real life. Candid shots are even worse; apparently I’m just not photogenic! Any tips on how to take a better photo?

1) Suck in, flex muscles, and avoid high fiber foods the day before (they make you bloated).
2) Know what clothes flatter your body the best (Cosmopolitan magazine often has articles on this).
3) Know what makeup flatters you the best. Eyeliner and mascara help especially in photos!
4) Look at old pinup pics- that art was made about “real” women with curves! Classic pinup poses are almost always flattering.
5) Don’t settle for a creepy photographer! There are way too many good amateurs out there who are NOT creepy! ONLY work with photographers you feel comfortable with.
you apparently don’t have a myspace hahahaha. (if you don’t get it, most myspace users fill their profiles with self-taken photos, posting them almost immediately after they are taken.) try doing that. grab your camera and take a bunch of pictures. dozens. then put them on your computer and select ones that you like best.
Good photos are all about lighting. You should go to a professional photographer and they can put you in the right lighting, and make you tilt your head a certain way. Most photographers will also take several shots and let you choose which one you like most so you don’t have to pay for them all.
Or get someone to take dozens of shots of you with a digital cam and that way you don’t spend anything on photos. One of these photos is bound to turn out ok.

If you can go to a professional, do so. If not then use more make-up than normal. Photos can wash out make-up sometimes. Make sure you use eye shadow and eye-liner. Darker than usual lipstick. Good luck to you, I have the same problem. I am not in the least photogenic.
When taking a good photo, you need to take the picture at an angle. you also need good lighting and a good camera. if you can afford it maybe you should try a professional photographer. ALSO, make sure you wear LOTS of mascara. it turns guys on. take it from me, im a teenager
Don’t know much about this, but I do remember reading that Marilyn Monroe always posed for pictures with her lips slightly opened rather than close-lipped. It was much sexier. Also, don’t overdo the make-up. Women tend to do this for a photograph and it really doesn’t work. Tone it down a little and it looks more natural. One last suggestion, have you picture taken with a pet. It makes a quite endearing photo. Good luck.
