Is Dating Even Possible If You Have Mrsa?

I’ve discovered boils on a sensitive area. I’ve had sores in my nose. I’m pretty sure I have MRSA, pretty sure I’m a carrier now, but I don’t know for sure yet. In either case, all I’ve read online is to basically become OCD and not have ‘skin on skin’ contact. I’m 21 years old! And I’m a lesbian, I can’t really have protected sex like heterosexuals.. and I just started dating a really great girl..and now I can’t touch her without giving her this? I know it seems like a stupid thing to worry about but I feel like my life is over before its even really begun. I can’t imagine before being intimate w/ someone, having to say, “Oh, and by the way, you’ll probably get staph if you have sex with me or even get really up close and personal.” If anyone has any advice or can give me any good news at ALL..I would really appreciate it. I’m going to lose my mind.

MRSA isn’t a disease. It’s a bacterial infection. Infections eventually go away (or, you do). When the infection is gone, MRSA is gone.

First of all let me just say that MRSA – methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureusinfection is in fact a STAPH infection. My friend had it about 2 months ago on his leg near his groin and it almost killed him because he left it untreated for about a week. Everyone is a potential carrier of this, and unless it gets into the body, causes no problems whatsoever. When it gets into the body however it can cause a myriad of problems….none of which are untreatable. You should be fine and when the sores are treated and dissapear you will once again be able to do all the things you did before without the potential of spreading the staph.

    Hmm….
Not to be rude but it seems you have a little OCD already. How do you know you have MRSA? You would most def need a medical diagnoses, they would have to swab the area and send it for tests.
    MRSA/staph, these are different things.
What you have could be ANY infection, or deficiency. It is unlikely to be mrsa, if you are only thinking that.
If you did have it, you would need antibiotics and to be generally isolated (in hosp all mrsa patients are isolated). dont have sex if you have it, wait until ur treated. if u did actually have it, then ur girlfriend is a carrier by now. lots of people are carriers but have a strong immune system and dont get infected.

me ocd. i have all the same fears. i want to find someone with mrsa. there are some support groups but these people looking for love are far and few between in them. I would pay hundreds of dollars to find someone like me. Hopefully in the same region. and hopefully someone as serious as me. at least to know i dont have to be fully alone. 4 years never wanting to tango with some of the women i have spent time with i cant bring myself to put them any further into risk. the heart breaks and aches going thru it not being able to get any closer. i want to start a website for dating with mrsa. i am trying to figure out what i can do, what it would take. email me if you happen to find this and can help develope something where we can meet easily. so we can have a place to go to meet right now to stay involed in dating safety without spreading further risks..able to fully open up and grow cause right now it is like all those who worry about spreading it have to wait in what is seamingly silence without any place to feel free and actually safe to grow closer to someone. well i hope we dont have to wait much longer we will see. personalities matching email me reason4regard@att.net

  • I have a hard time dating with my mrsa condition. So, I just started the website mrsadating.com. I hope that you will help spread the word to promote this free site. I really want to date someone who knows what it’s like.

My boyfriend’s teenage son came down with MRSA two months ago. At first, they thought it was an insect bite or a boil – tests showed that it was, indeed MRSA. Two rounds of antibiotics – including nasal, as well as bathing daily with Hibilcens, and it took more than a month for his infection to go away. During that time, both my boyfriend and I came down with MRSA (diagnosed) – considering that his son was only in my home for one weekend, and that we did not share towels, bedding (I keep a pretty clean home) and still managed to catch it is pretty scary.

MRSA IS STAPH! However – once your system has been ‘colonized’ – you are ALWAYS a carrier and are ALWAYS subject to outbreaks – I work at Washington University in St. Louis and am being treated by Wash U Physicians who are up on the latest information/treatments on MRSA.

So, what to do? Maintain good hygeine – use Hibiclens or Phisoderm every day. Staphasceptic, rather than Neosporin on any suspected sites as soon as they appear – use all antibiotics as directed – but continue to live your life! A large percentage of the population has Herpes Simplex in the form recurrent cold sores and ‘fever’ blisters – they’ve learned to take precautions and to recgonize the signs when a breakout is imminent – so it will be with MRSA.

PS – None of us were ‘isolated’ in the hospital due to the MRSA – that only occurs in a small percentage of patients who have allowed the illness to actually access the bloodstream and to invade other areas, deeper than soft tissue.

    Take heart. Take care.

.. once MRSA carrier always MRSA carrier.. it can give negative results but it can appear later.. infection might not remove the fact you are still carrier.. visa versa treatments to get rid of it might not work.. its an fact that it helps only around 58% of carriers.. infected ppl who mrsa caused infection will survive 50% who benefit from carrier treatments are just that 58%… it an go away itself or can come again as positive test after some time or years.. your own immunity is the only key to keep it better… obesity is risk for immunity.. bad way of living not taking care of yourself etc… sometimes normal staff can so calledly eat your MRSA off from you…but as an carrier i wouldnt spray it aroun cause it doesnt nessessary disappear.. here u have to give 1 year and at least 3 test during the year all clean that u arent anymore in hospital lists.. that what you told earlier. that after medication u arent carrier anymore is nothing sure.. infection mi9ght be in control but u still might be a carrier.. go to healthcare professional to get tested..yes i hate my mrsa aswell it does limits my life… cause im not the one who spray it around…
