Meeting A Guy In Person After Meeting Online? Ways To Be Safe?

Anyone have any advise about meeting a guy in person that you met online?
We’ve been talking for about 4 months now and I think I’d actually like to meet him. But what can I do to make sure I’m safe doing it?
I’m 19.8 lol, he’s 22. I have a car and will meet him for dinner at a public place. I don’t feel comfortable telling my parents or friends what I’m doing but I’ll let my roommate know where I’m going and the guys name, phone number and i have a few pictures of him i’ll leave up on my laptop… Anything else I can do?
And I don’t want to be paranoid but I’d like to meet him and I want to be safe doing it…
Any tips about safety would be great!! As well as tips on first dates… I’d been with the same guy for 4 years before this so I really don’t have any dating experience…

    online people aren’t any more dangerous than normal people you would go on a date with. you could always buy mace if you think it could be problem. a can of mace will cost no more than 25$ for a good one.

    buddy system take a friend along and tail you to make sure everything is ok.
