My Boyfriend Decided To Turn Straight, Is He Trying To Get Rid Of Me Or Can This Really Be His Way Of Coping?

He confessed his love to me profusely, but since we live far from each other (adjacent countries) he said he can’t handle the distance and he won’t be with another man so he wants us to be “special friends” (he defines that as doing everything lovers do but without calling it love) and he will look for a woman. I see him online in a gay dating site everyday, where is he gonna get a woman there?
What should I do?

It sounds like he is really confused right now. He may need space to think things out. Alot homosexual people struggle with their feelings. It is natural for him to feel torn between his feeling and longing for a sense of normality in his life. Alot of gay males try the straght thing thinking that they can have a natural family and be accepted by society but then realise later that they are trying to change themselves. He may be going through one of those times right now. If you have seen him on the gay dating sites that is a bit different. Are you sure that those profiles are not old? some people continue to check old dating accounts just to see who responded. Ask him about them. If he gets defensive, then you may have a clue. Just give him some time to sort things out and if what you guys have is worth saving he will realize it. for now be his friend and help him find hisself. And dont listent to any negativity on here…we dont choose who we love

If you live far away from each other, this arrangement will not work. He just told you that he is straight so you will let him go. The fact that he’s on gay dating sites tells you that he is looking for new relationships. Let him go. You can’t hold onto him if he wants to move on.

Leave him alone. Let him decide for himself. That is always the best way.

Come on, it is happening everywhere. Relations do break down. Think yours is the only special one? So too do millions of newlyweds until they parted. So move on.

He don’t want you no more. Move on.

I know you don’t want to hear this, but it is the truth. There’s nothing you can do. Accept that he cannot be honest about what’s going on in his life, and move on. Do not dwell on a situation you have no control over. Do keep your friends close for support. Do exercise (to release endorphins = make you happy = helps coping). Best wishes

  • let time tell. no one can suddenly decide to turn straight. you are who you are.

  • Sounds to me like he is confused. I would not be his “special friend”, tell him to get lost. You deserve better. You deserve to be with a man who is in touch with his sexuality, not this wishy washy crap!

Honey, he can get a woman anywhere but he’s still into “richards”! What you can suggest tho is for you both to be in an open relationship…as in, it’s ok for the both of you to sleep around but to do it safely of coz! However, think it over before you suggest this to him. If you can’t bear with it, move along…This long distance complicated relationship is just not worth staying around for…there are other men in your country and in your city who are longing for the love you can give them. ALl the best!

he’s confused the best thing you can do now is give him some air . in a couple weeks have an intervention and talk . pour your hearts out and see what happens
