I have applied for a government job with the city.
I graduated high school in 2004. That year I worked a seasonal retail job for 3 months. After that I went to work at a major retailer for 4 years and got promoted twice in to management. I left that retail management job this year. After that I went to work as a technician at AT&T for 4 months this year in 2009. From 2004-2006 I was also attending college.
Anyway I already submitted the application. I am well qualified for the requirements listed for the job and I really want it. I looked at the application again tonight on the city hiring web site and realized I somehow screwed up my dates on the seasonal job and the AT&T job.
I attached a text resume to the application that has the correct dates, but on the online application it’s self I somehow selected “August” as a starting date for the seasonal job when it should have been “October” and selected “August” for the starting date at AT&T when it should have been “September”
The dates are correct on my text resume, but is this going to screw me and blow the job?
There is no way to change the online application once it is submitted, and they specifically say DO NOT CALL for anyone reason until when/if they call for an interview. So I don’t really think they would want me calling to correct that.
So basically am I screwed?

No. If they call you in for an interview they won’t contact your former employers, generally, unless the interview goes well. If you get called in for an interview, you can just gently tell the interviewer that the dates on your application got messed up. Chances are that even your former employers won’t remember the months that you started working
No, you’ll be alright. As long as you rectify the problem if they call you in for an interview, it should be fine. I mean it’s not like you lied, because you did work there for 3 months, but you just got the dates wrong. And why would someone lie about that? And try to fix it? I’m sure you’ll be fine.
No, you will be ok, there was nothing malicous about what you did you did not intentionally lie, and no one cares about a month or two. It really is no big deal. Relax. Hope you get the job
