So on Saturday night i have a date with a guy i met online. I actually met him using yahoo answers. We have been talking on and off on AIM for a few months. During that time mentioned where he worked. He also gave me his myspace. He looks like a good guy. Well about 2 days ago our conversation -DRASTICALLY- picked up. We’ve been talking on the phone until the early mornings. And were meeting face to face for the first time saturday.
Now i know that it is always risky meeting people online. Well whenever i call him and he cant pick up it goes to his voicemail and he mentions where he works in his voice mail. I made him take a picture 2 days ago with the current date written in multicolors so i know that he matched the myspace pictures. Were going places really close to my house. I know every road were going to take and my friends will be texting me throughout the date to make sure nothing goes wrong.
Although im not out to my parents, so they think im going out with friends.

Anyone have any advise about meeting a guy in person that you met online?
We’ve been talking for about 4 months now and I think I’d actually like to meet him. But what can I do to make sure I’m safe doing it?
I’m 19.8 lol, he’s 22. I have a car and will meet him for dinner at a public place. I don’t feel comfortable telling my parents or friends what I’m doing but I’ll let my roommate know where I’m going and the guys name, phone number and i have a few pictures of him i’ll leave up on my laptop… Anything else I can do?
And I don’t want to be paranoid but I’d like to meet him and I want to be safe doing it…
Any tips about safety would be great!! As well as tips on first dates… I’d been with the same guy for 4 years before this so I really don’t have any dating experience…

I’m meeting someone I met online for the first time next weekend. He lives in MS and I live in LA. He is traveling almost 3 hours to see me. I had planned for us to go to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants and then maybe see a movie on Friday night. My date, when recently discussing our plans, suggested some other things we could do on Saturday night and if he can get out of a commitment that he has on Sunday, then things we could do then too. Does he think he’s staying with me for the whole entire weekend? I have not offered him to stay at my house, and I certainly would not feel comfortable having someone I just met staying there anyways. I just don’t know how to approach this. He’s a nice enough guy, and although we have not been talking too long, we’ve really hit it off and have been talking on the phone every night since. We’re both still in college, so him staying in a hotel when he came down here could would be financially hard on him. I guess I just need to know how y’all would go about discussing this topic? I don’t mind him coming for the entire weekend but I don’t think he should stay with me.

I am meeting a girl I have met online, for the first time in real life next week. We have talked on the phone a few times, but mainly chatted on MSN.
I am usually quite a shy person when meeting girls, but I can usually do OK when the pressure is on (I once went on a blind date and coped reasonably well).
We are meeting in London which is halfway between where we both live and as a result, we have booked a hotel which means we will probably be sharing a bed (though I do have a backup plan, just in case) – is that a bit too much, too soon?
But what I’d like is; has anybody been in a similar situation and does anybody have any tips on us meeting for the first time?

I’m not out yet, and the only way I know how to meet guys is through gay dating/hookup sites. I’ve talked to some guys who seem to have shown genuine interest at first (online)… but it seems like I always end up getting ignored or being forgotten in the end. All this letdown and I’m beginning to despair of ever finding a guy who’s into more than one night stands and shows a real interest in me… not even as a potential boyfriend but just as a person. I’m gay and closeted, so I can only talk to guys online. I’ve chatted with this guy for a month and then decided to meet him. We went to the movie (saw two of them actually), and we each took turn paying for the other.
He was really nice, except that I thought he was masculine based on his photos but it turned out he’s a bit flamboyant, which isn’t a problem. He’s still nice.
Hopefully he isn’t just pretending to be nice until I’m alone with him in his apartment, then the skeletons come out lol.
