I use tarzan meet jane a free US based that you never have to pay on. I know some sites eventually try to charge you so I’d do your research before you sign up for any others.

eharmony.com or match.com. Both have good reputations for screening out weirdos and seem to be safe. Just don’t put too much of yourself out there at first and play it cool.
