To validate my suggestion - try opening up your CPU chassis and temporarily use an electric fan to cool off your system. It might be your power supply. Try to detach power cables attached to extra drives or CD Rom if you installed more than one. then try to load your game and observe. If everything runs smoothly, then consider upgrding your power supply. I had this same problem when I started reconfiguring my PC to run with high capacity SATA hard drive.
